This is the inspiring success story of Srikant, who decided to make compost at home with the help of FSMC team, Hinjilicut.

The Beginning:

 While the FSMC team organized Door to Door campaign regarding Onsite Composting at ward no 11 & its benefits, they were emphasizing on the importance of reducing waste, as well as showing how composting can help the environment and promote sustainability. As a result of onsite composting promotion, Srikanta Patra from Sunari Dhimira of Ward 11 was impressed. He noted that this initiative was an excellent example of how an individual and community can work together to make a difference. FSMC team gave him proper training about Onsite Composting. He was so inspired by the initiative that he started composting in his home, showing that individual commitment can have a positive impact on the environment. He decided on a simple and effective composting system – a bin setup in their home. He started collecting kitchen scrap, including fruit and vegetable peels, coffee grounds, and eggshells. Yard waste like leaves, grass clippings, and small branches were also added to the mix.  As a matter of fact, he is no longer giving wet waste to the municipality. He uses it instead to make compost for his own plants instead. Now, he happily motivates others to do the same.
